In this incantation, I explore the dual concepts of projection and prejection as they relate to my evolving sense of self and awareness. Projection represents my active engagement with the external world, my thoughts, desires, and sensations—what I term the “triself,” encompassing mindself, bodyself, and worldself. Prejection, on the other hand, is the process of detachment from this external immersion, a withdrawal into my “coreself” or inner being, which exists in a state I call the “premoment.” Through prejection, I consciously strip away the textures of my outward projections, creating space for relief, timelessness, and deep introspection. It is a disciplined practice that allows me to loosen my attachment to the external world and progressively enter a state of unwaking, where I observe both my creative and withdrawn states of being. The balance between these two states reflects the ongoing dynamic between becoming and being, awakening and unwaking.

I had forgotten about an useful concept just four months deep into my moment: prejection, the counterpart to projection. In a March ’24 incantation I defined prejection in the following way:
What am I? What does my true being look like? What am I trying so hard to return to? What happened 20 years deep in my moment? The euphoria that I project 20 years deep in my moment is the state of prejection. What is “prejection”? If projection is my state of actively manifesting my secondself of thoughts, desires, feelings, and sensations, and my thirdself of space, distance, and objects, then prejection is my withdrawal from that. It is a state where I concentrate my moment at the point before my projection.
In prejection I see my awakening projection for what it is. I mindfully de-texturize the surface of both my secondself and thirdself to the point that I do not expend any of my creative power manifesting inner or outer forms. I have effectively de-texturized my thirdself surface by darkening it, but I have not similarly conquered my secondself. I can arrive at prejection through meditation, but I must enter mindfully; aware of what my projection actually is. I must enter into it understanding that I am both observer and creator. I create by projecting, and I withdraw by prejecting.
“Prejection” is an useful concept because it describes the act of withdrawing and coming back to the center of my moment. The center, which I am now calling my “coreself”, is the state that exists in my “premoment”. When I focus my attention in coreself, I withdraw it from triself, which results in a great sense of relief and a perspective of timelessness and spacelessness. When I preject moderately, I experience the “haloing” effect. When I preject heavily, I experience the euphoria I recall about 22 years deep in my moment I often refer to as my “epiphany”. So the degree of my prejection can vary with the degree of my withdrawal from triself.
Projection is my immersion in or attachment to triself: in my mind, body, and world. Prejection is my detachment from triself and attachment to coreself. Unwakening is the disciplined process of repeatedly prejecting, weakening my attachment to triself. The essential difference between prejection and projection is one of awareness, focus, and conviction. When I direct my attention outward to triself — either my mind, my body, or my world — then I will experience projection and the sense of a greater community in time and space beyond just me, here, and now. When I direct my attention inward to coreself, then I will experience prejection and the sense of detachment from other beings, times, and spaces.
