Forms and performances are the fundamental building block of the second place. They are any separate or unique thing, whether conceptual or perceptual, abstract or concrete. They are the ‘things’ that make up my reality.
Forms exist in my inner and outer environments. Trees, cars, milk, my body, my mother’s physical person, and the house next door are all outer forms. The words, ideas, memories, and emotions I have associated with each of these items are inner forms.
Performances are my behaviors and the behaviors I expect of others in the various roles.
Forms and performances are two parts of the same coin, and between them I can account for everything in existence.
The descentist treatment focuses on the forms and performances in my awakening. I have accumulated forms and performances over a lifetime. They form the shape and texture of my awakening in every way, from the beliefs I have to my financial, professional, and social circumstances.
We often feel as if we are the victim of our circumstances because our forms and performances feel coercive or unwanted. But forms and performances exist in layers, and can be challenged and removed.
The first thing to remember is that I have full control over the forms in my life. They exist as layers. I can take steps to remove those layers, one by one. But it is my decision.
In descentism, there is no point in going much further than this.
